The PSD of the Autonomous Region of Madeira recently celebrated the completion of 84 housing units in the municipality of Santa Cruz, a project expected to be fully operational by the end of 2025. This initiative is part of a larger plan by the Regional Government to address the housing shortage, utilizing resources from the Recovery and Resilience Plan and European funds.
Funding and Housing Goals
The autonomous executive plans to deliver around 450 residential units in the next two years and aim for a total of 805 by 2026, without incurring additional costs for the regional budget.

Criticism of JPP for Lack of Concrete Projects
During a visit to the Garajau development, Deputy Brício Araújo accused the Juntos pelo Povo (JPP) of populism, highlighting that this party has not submitted social housing applications to the Housing and Urban Rehabilitation Institute (IHRU) and has returned available European funds.
The PSD also reminded that Santa Cruz could have benefited from the “1st Right” program, similar to Funchal and Câmara de Lobos, but the JPP did not take advantage of this avenue for social housing support.
Commitment to Visible Solutions
This action is part of the Regional Government’s strategy to mitigate the housing crisis in Madeira, using community funds to ensure works and deliveries by 2026. The PSD reinforces its commitment to providing concrete responses to the population, contrasting its actions with the inertia of the opposition.
