Government authorizes expropriations and declassifications for four infrastructure projects
Four resolutions have been published authorizing the expropriation of one plot of land and the declassification of three public domain properties, all necessary to advance road and safety works.
The Regional Government Council approved a set of measures to free up land necessary for the execution of major infrastructure works in the Region. The decisions involve processes of expropriation and declassification of public domain assets.
Four resolutions have been published:
- Regional Government Council Resolution No. 772/2026: Authorizes the acquisition, through private law, of plot No. 35 of the parcel plan for the work of “Access and Safety Infrastructure in the Upper Zones of Santo António - Barreira Path - Curral Velho Section”. The acquisition is made from the holders Álvaro de Freitas Caetano and Maria Madalena Rodrigues Cró Caetano, for the total amount of 136.00 €.
- Regional Government Council Resolution No. 773/2026: Authorizes the declassification from the public domain of a rural property with 35 m², registered in the land registry under article 33 of section A, in the parish and municipality of Santa Cruz. The land is necessary for the work of “Construction of the Correction and Paving of the Section of Regional Road 207 between the Airport and the Santo da Serra Golf Course”.
- Regional Government Council Resolution No. 774/2026: Authorizes the declassification from the public domain of a rural property with 100 m², registered in the land registry under article 233 of section 9, in the parish of Arco de São Jorge, municipality of Santana. The declassification is necessary for the work of “Construction of the Ribeira de São Jorge – Arco de São Jorge Expressway”.
- Regional Government Council Resolution No. 775/2026: Authorizes the definitive and free transfer of twelve properties to IHM- Investimentos Habitacionais da Madeira, EPERAM. The lands, located in the Lombo das Laranjeiras area, in Calheta, have a total area of 4,180 m² and are intended for the construction of 26 units of social housing for rent. The transfer includes eleven rural properties and one urban property, with their respective land registry and property registration entries.
These measures are fundamental to removing legal and patrimonial obstacles, allowing the start or completion of mobility, safety, and public interest housing projects.
