The Regional Government has authorised the expropriation of land plot no. 42 for €90,485.45 for the channelling works of the Ribeira da Palmeira.
The Regional Government Council authorised, at a plenary meeting on 5 November 2026, the expropriation of land plot no. 42, part of the works on "Channelling of the Ribeira da Palmeira Downstream of Rua da Palmeira", for a total value of 90,485.45 euros. The decision, published in the Official Journal that day, allows the Region to proceed with acquiring the land through an amicable expropriation deed, that is, by agreement with the owners.
Regional Government Council Resolution no. 1034/2026 authorises the expropriation, under Article 90 of the Expropriation Code, approved by Law no. 168/99, of 18 September, in its current wording. The holders of the plot are José Calaça and his wife Maria Alves Calaça.
The Government also approved the draft amicable expropriation deed, which serves as a model for formalising the agreement, and mandated the Regional Secretary for Finance to sign the deed on behalf of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
This decision does not create the expropriation, which was already under way. By Resolution no. 925/2025, of 20 November, the public utility of the expropriation of the immovable properties, their improvements and the rights associated with them, necessary for carrying out the works, was declared, and plot no. 42 is part of that set. Public utility is the formal recognition that a private asset may be taken from its owner for a work of collective interest, in exchange for compensation. The present resolution therefore addresses the concrete acquisition stage for this land.
The total value set is 90,485.45 euros, that is, ninety thousand, four hundred and eighty-five euros and forty-five cents. The expense is covered by the Region's budget, under Organic Classification 47 9 50 02 07, Project 50153, and Economic Classification 07.01.01.B0.B0, pending the indication of the respective commitment number, which the published text does not mention.
The document also does not state the area of the plot nor the planned timetable for the start or completion of the works.
Portaria n.º 619/2026 spreads the 9,050,000 euros for the first phase of the Ribeira de João Gomes rehabilitation across 2027 and 2028, with no expenditure in 2026.
The Regional Government has declared, as urgent, the expropriation of properties needed to build the Ribeiro Frio car park in Santana, with authorisation for administrative taking of possession.
The Regional Government Council authorised the expenditure for two works, awarded two others and approved the respective procedures, including the reformulation of the Santo António Interchange in Funchal and the requalification of the ER 120 in Porto Santo.
