The Regional Government is considering extending to Madeira the salary changes agreed by the Portuguese Professional Football League and the Professional Football Players’ Union. Interested parties may submit a reasoned objection within 10 days of the notice’s publication.
A draft ministerial order is open for consultation to extend to the Autonomous Region of Madeira the salary changes to the collective agreement between the Portuguese Professional Football League and the Professional Football Players’ Union. As set out in the draft, the extension may cover employment relationships in third-tier football, including employers that are not members of the signatory employers’ association and workers who are not members of the signatory union.
The amendment to the collective agreement sets minimum basic salaries for the 2026-2027 sporting season, calculated as a multiple of the Guaranteed Minimum Monthly Remuneration (RMMG):
The agreement also provides that players aged up to 23 who are considered locally trained and sign their first sports employment contract in the 2026-2027 season are entitled to the RMMG during the first two years of the contract. It also sets out rules for players who play for at least 45 minutes in five matches for the first team or B team. They may become entitled to the minimum salary applicable to the competition from the month following their fifth appearance.
Players covered by the transitional regime who are transferred to another club in the 2027-2028 season are entitled to 12% of the net transfer fee. The League also undertakes to send the union lists of registered players, along with the duration and value of their contracts, after the registration deadlines of 31 December and 31 March.
The draft extension does not apply to employment relationships involving workers who belong to non-signatory unions that are party to collective agreements in force with the same scope. Clauses that conflict with mandatory legal provisions are also excluded. The extension will take effect only after the ministerial order has been approved and published; the notice gives interested parties 10 days to submit a reasoned objection.
EEM’s agreements with STEEM and SINERGIA set salary scales for 2026 and update several monetary benefits, including meal, shift and seniority allowances. Two draft orders are also open for public consultation to extend the terms to workers not represented by the signatory unions.
The terms of CARRISTUR’s company agreement will also apply in Madeira to covered workers who are not represented by FECTRANS. The extension order takes effect the day after publication, with financial effects as provided for in the agreement.
