Regional Government approves Strategic Plan for Artificial Intelligence 2026-2030
The Regional Government of Madeira has formalized the new roadmap for the adoption of artificial intelligence in Public Administration, aiming for efficiency and service modernization.
The Regional Government Council has approved, through Resolution no. 474/2026, the Strategic Plan for the Adoption of Artificial Intelligence in the Regional Public Administration (2026-2030). This measure, proposed by the Regional Office for Digital Compliance, Data Protection and Cybersecurity (GCPD), establishes the fundamental guidelines for the safe and responsible implementation of AI technologies in the regional public sector.
The plan's main objectives are:
- Improve the efficiency of organizational processes;
- Rationalize resources and reduce operational costs;
- Ensure alignment with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 and the National Artificial Intelligence Agenda (ANIA);
- Promote public innovation and the quality of services provided to citizens.
The execution of this plan will be coordinated by the GCPD, in close coordination with the Regional Directorate of Informatics (DRI) and the Innovation and Modernization Agency of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, IP-RAM (AIM, IP-RAM), through a General Action Plan. The development of sectoral action plans will be reserved for exceptional situations, and must maintain full compliance with the approved strategic principles.
