Government invests 9.9 million euros in dam construction on Ribeira da Ameixieira
The Regional Government has authorized an expenditure of 9.9 million euros for the construction of solid material retention structures on the Ribeira da Ameixieira, in Serra d'Agua.
With the aim of mitigating the risks of floods and landslides, the Regional Government Council approved, through Resolution no. 598/2026, the expenditure inherent to the contract for the "CONSTRUCTION OF DAMS ON THE RIBEIRA DA AMEIXIEIRA - SERRA D'AGUA - A".
The investment, which amounts to 9,900,000.00 euros (plus VAT at the legal rate in force), aims at the implementation of transversal structures for the interception and temporary retention of solid material, essential for the protection of populations and critical areas in the parish of Serra d'Agua, municipality of Ribeira Brava.
The work will be awarded through an international public tender, with publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The authority to conduct the procedure has been delegated to the Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure.
The financial charges will be covered by the funds provided for in the Budget of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, as stipulated in Ordinance no. 253/2026.
