Government defines teaching hours credit for regional schools
Order no. 263/2026 regulates the allocation of teaching hours for management and pedagogical coordination structures in Madeira's public schools.
The Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology has published Order no. 263/2026, which defines the global credit of weekly teaching hours for primary and secondary schools in the regional public network. This measure aims to provide educational establishments with autonomy for the management of pedagogical structures and the implementation of school success strategies.
Main provisions
The global credit of hours (CGH) is calculated based on a formula that considers a fixed component, the number of students and classes, and multiplicative factors per level of education. The order also provides for:
- Specific credits: Exceptions to the global credit for citizenship education projects, promotion of school success, school sports, and artistic modalities.
- Autonomy management: Schools are responsible for managing these hours and must report on the effectiveness of the measures adopted.
- Application: The regime is applicable to the organization of the 2026/2027 school year.
This diploma revokes Order no. 240/2018 and other previous standards, consolidating the regulatory framework for the pedagogical and organizational autonomy of Madeira's schools.
