Regional Government grants financial support to BBPETS for animal protection
The Regional Government of Madeira has authorized a program contract with the BBPETS association, allocating 30,000 euros to support animal protection expenses in 2026.
The Regional Government Council of Madeira has approved, through Resolution no. 613/2026, the granting of financial support to BBPETS - Animal Protection Association (legal entity no. 517 261 022). This measure aims to strengthen the role of altruistic associations in safeguarding animal welfare in the Region.
The support, which amounts to a maximum of 30,000.00 €, is intended to co-finance the association's expenses during 2026, specifically regarding veterinary medical assistance, collection and housing of stray animals, and awareness campaigns for responsible ownership.
The main points of the decision include:
- Legal Framework: The decision meets the requirements established in Ordinance no. 463/2019, amended by Ordinances no. 769/2020 and 439/2022.
- Validity: The program contract is effective from the date of its signature until December 31, 2026.
- Execution: The Regional Secretary of Agriculture and Fisheries has been mandated to sign the contract on behalf of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
- Budgetary Provision: The expenditure is duly recorded in the Budget of the Autonomous Region of Madeira for 2026, under commitment no. CY52610573.
This initiative reaffirms the commitment of the XVI Regional Government to the continuity of animal protection policies, recognizing the essential work of these associations in promoting quality of life and controlling the pet population in Madeira.
