Santo António care home project receives €272,000 boost to create 47 places

The Region has increased funding for the Santo António care home project, supported by the PRR, to €2,903,153.94. The investment will create 47 new places, with €2,276,051.94 allocated to the 2026 financial year.

The Regional Government has increased the funding for project 4479 - Lar Santo António by €272,256.27, raising the total from €2,630,897.67 to €2,903,153.94. The change was published in Ordinance No. 601/2026 of 23 October, which amends the allocation of budgetary costs set out in Ordinance No. 51/2024.

Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the project stems from an investment agreement between the then Regional Secretariat for Inclusion and Youth and the Social and Parish Centre of Santo António. It aims to establish a Residential Care Facility for Older People (ERPI) and will create 47 new places in the Region.

The ordinance allocates the costs across financial years as follows:

  • 2024: €0.00;
  • 2025: €627,102.00;
  • 2026: €2,276,051.94.

The newly approved increase follows the rescheduling of the project's financial implementation and changes the amount allocated for 2026. The ordinance enters into force on the day after its publication.
