Regional Government grants 3.8 million compensation to APRAM
The Regional Government Council approved a 3.8 million euro differential for APRAM to ensure the company's financial rebalancing.
The Regional Government Council, meeting in plenary on April 9, 2026, authorized the allocation of a financial differential to APRAM - Administration of the Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, S.A., in the amount of €3,886,935.81. This measure is taken under the protocol signed in 2025 between the company and the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The decision, formalized through Regional Government Council Resolution no. 226/2026, aims to compensate APRAM, S.A. for the reduction in revenue and ensure the economic and financial rebalancing necessary to fulfill its public service obligations. The company plays a strategic role in managing port infrastructure, which is essential for the regional economy, given that approximately 95% of goods imported into Madeira arrive by sea.
According to the document, the allocation of this differential is urgent to ensure the company's financial capacity to meet current expenses, including the payment of salaries and operating costs. The amount will be covered by the budget of the Autonomous Region of Madeira for the 2026 financial year, with the appropriate budgetary allocation in the Regional Secretariat for Economy (Organic Classification 45.0.01.01.00, Financial Center M100350, Program 044, Measure 011, Funding Source 388, Activity 258).
