The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries has established the funding application regime to protect forests against biotic and abiotic agents, such as fires and pests.
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries has published Ordinance No. 437/2026, which establishes the application regime for Intervention F.2.8 - Forest prevention against biotic and abiotic agents, within the scope of the 2023-2027 CAP Strategic Plan (PEPAC R.A. Madeira).
This financial support, with a 100% aid rate in the form of a non-repayable grant, is intended for owners and managers of forest land, public or private, as well as for producer groups. The objective is to help halt biodiversity loss and improve the resilience of forest ecosystems.
Applications must be submitted electronically on the Madeira agriculture and PEPAC portals. Eligible operations must cover a minimum contiguous area of 0.8 hectares and comply with a series of technical and legal requirements, including integration into a Forest Management Plan (PGF) or equivalent instrument.

Beneficiaries must maintain the activity for five years after the final payment and are subject to administrative and on-site controls. The ordinance also establishes a regime of reductions and exclusions of support in case of non-compliance with obligations.
The ordinance entered into force the day after its publication, on September 8, 2026.
A 100% financial support for reforestation and recovery of forest areas affected by fires, pests, or natural disasters has been approved.
