Madeira allocates €1.42 million to fencing the Caminho dos Pretos firebreak
The Region has authorised the allocation across 2026 and 2027 of costs for three fencing lots along the Caminho dos Pretos firebreak. The total investment is €1,420,000, plus VAT.
The Regional Government has authorised the multi-year allocation of costs for a project to build fencing across three lots along the Caminho dos Pretos firebreak. The total value of the works is €1,420,000, plus VAT at the applicable rate.
Ordinance No. 599/2026 of 22 October, signed by the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture and the Regional Secretary for Finance, allocates the expenditure between the 2026 and 2027 financial years. The three lots cover areas and perimeters of different sizes:
- Lot 1: an area of approximately 40 hectares and a fencing perimeter of 5,210 metres. Total value: €732,150, comprising €219,645 in 2026 and €512,505 in 2027.
- Lot 2: an area of approximately 29 hectares and a fencing perimeter of 3,450 metres. Total value: €483,170, comprising €144,951 in 2026 and €338,219 in 2027.
- Lot 3: an area of approximately 8 hectares and a fencing perimeter of 2,420 metres. Total value: €204,680, comprising €61,404 in 2026 and €143,276 in 2027.
The amounts allocated for 2027 may be increased by any balances established in 2026. The 2026 expenditure is included in the Private Budget of the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation, IP-RAM, and the multi-year commitments were registered under numbers 21309, 21310 and 21311, respectively.
The ordinance stipulates that it enters into force on the day following its publication.
