Government approves new structure for Regional Youth Directorate
Ordinance No. 527/2026 defines the internal organization of the DRJ, maintaining four existing service directorates and creating a new one for planning and innovation.
The Regional Government has approved the core structure of the Regional Youth Directorate (DRJ) through Ordinance No. 527/2026, dated September 15. The decree, published in a supplement to the Official Journal, defines the responsibilities and competencies of the organic units of this service, which falls under the Regional Secretariat for Inclusion, Labour and Youth.
The new structure maintains the four existing service directorates and creates a new one, bringing the number of core organic units to four. The maximum number of flexible organic units has been set at five.
The service directorates that make up the DRJ are as follows:
- Youth Support Services Directorate (DSAJ): Unit responsible for relations with young people, youth associations and students. Its competencies include the development of leisure time occupation programmes, the implementation of national and European initiatives such as Erasmus+, support for associativism and management of the Youth Card.
- Youth Centres Management Services Directorate (DSGCJ): Unit in charge of managing the region's network of Youth Centres, including reservations, accommodation and support for events of interest to young people.
- Legal and Resource Management Services Directorate (DSJGR): Unit that ensures the financial, legal, human resources and administrative areas of the DRJ.
- Planning, Innovation and Communication Services Directorate (DSPIC): New unit created by this decree. It is responsible for planning, innovation, information systems management, heritage, institutional communication and for promoting the Hub.Juventude space.
The ordinance repeals the previous Ordinances No. 71/2020 and 264/2023 and maintains the service commissions of the heads of the three pre-existing service directorates.
