Public services, institutes, and public companies in the Autonomous Region of Madeira will have time off on Holy Saturday.
Through Resolution no. 170/2026, the Regional Government has established time off on Holy Saturday for public services, Public Institutes, and Public Companies under the supervision of the Regional Government.
The decision respects the significance of Holy Week in the Madeiran Catholic tradition. Services that operate without interruption or those that, for reasons of public interest, must work on this day, must ensure that their employees can enjoy the time off at a later date, subject to agreement with their respective hierarchical superiors.
