Government praises three sporting achievements of Madeiran athletes

The Regional Government of Madeira publicly recognized, in its meeting of July 29, the merit of athletes and sports entities from the region for excellent results achieved in high-level competitions. The praise resolutions aim to highlight the prestige these achievements bring to the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The recognized achievements are as follows:

• National Athletics Champion (Pole Vault): Public praise to athlete João Pedro Buaró, of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, for winning the title of National Athletics Champion at the 111th Portuguese Championships, in the pole vault discipline, senior men's category (Regional Government Council Resolution No. 759/2026).
• National Athletics Champion (Hammer Throw): Public praise to athlete Mariana Sofia Quintal Pestana, to the Grupo Desportivo do Estreito and to the Madeira Autonomous Region Athletics Association, for winning the title of National Athletics Champion at the 111th Portuguese Championships, in the hammer throw discipline, senior women's category (Regional Government Council Resolution No. 760/2026).
• Silver Medal at the European Roller Hockey Championship: Public praise to athlete Luana Baltazar Camacho, to the Grupo Desportivo do Estreito and to the Madeira Skating Association, for winning the silver medal while serving the national team at the European Championship, Under-17 women's category, in the Roller Hockey discipline (Regional Government Council Resolution No. 761/2026).
