The Council of the Regional Government has authorized the opening of a tender procedure to transfer the management of the Santa Teresinha Facility, located in Canhas, municipality of Ponta do Sol, to an entity from the social and solidarity sector.
The Regional Government Council Resolution No. 732/2026 aims to select a private social solidarity institution to take over the management of the facility and the social services developed there, which include a Residential Facility for the Elderly, a Day Centre, and a Social Centre.
Currently, management is the responsibility of the Madeira Social Security Institute, IP-RAM. The measure is part of the strategy to promote public-social partnerships to strengthen the quality and accessibility of services provided to the elderly and more vulnerable populations.
The management agreement to be concluded also provides for the free-of-charge transfer (under a loan-for-use agreement) for a period of 20 years of the immovable and movable assets associated with the facility. The agreement may be renewed for equal periods, subject to evaluation.
The selection procedure will be conducted in accordance with applicable legal terms, namely Regional Legislative Decree No. 11/2015/M and Ordinance No. 776/2022, which establishes the programme for concluding management agreements in the Region (PAGRAM).
