Government authorizes 415 million expenditure for Madeira Central and University Hospital
The Regional Government has authorized an expenditure of 415 million euros for the construction of the new Madeira Central and University Hospital, moving forward with a new public tender.
The Regional Government Council approved, through Resolution no. 656/2026, the authorization of expenditure up to the amount of 415,000,000.00 € (plus VAT) for the execution of the contract "MADEIRA CENTRAL AND UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL - 3RD PHASE - GENERAL INFRASTRUCTURE. FINISHES AND TECHNICAL INSTALLATIONS - A".
This decision comes after the termination of the previous procedure, in which no proposals were submitted. The Government justifies the need to readjust cost valuations to the current market and geopolitical context, maintaining the strategic priority of building the new hospital unit to ensure quality healthcare in the Region.
The procedure will be carried out through a public tender with the publication of an announcement in the Official Journal of the European Union. The authority to perform all acts of the procedure has been delegated to the Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure.
