The Regional Government Council has approved the draft amendment to the concession contract for the road network managed by Vialitoral, delegating powers for its signing.
The Regional Government Council, meeting in plenary session on June 18, 2026, approved through Resolution no. 601/2026 the draft amendment to the Concession Contract signed on January 10, 2025, with Vialitoral - Concessões Rodoviárias da Madeira, S.A.
This decision aims to adjust contractual clauses regarding the operation and maintenance of the VR1 road section, which connects Ribeira Brava to Machico, and to define the procedures necessary for the end of the concession. The Regional Government has delegated to the Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure the necessary powers to sign this amendment on behalf of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The Government Council authorized the expropriation of land in Porto Santo for the construction of a roundabout on Regional Road 120, aiming to increase road safety.
The Regional Government has authorized a specific change to the addendum of the construction contract for the tunnels of the new road link.
