The Regional Government has authorised expenditure of up to €13,175,000, plus VAT, for the design and construction of Machico Pavilion. The project will be put out to public tender, with a notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The «Machico Pavilion - Design / Build» project may proceed with authorised expenditure of up to €13,175,000, plus VAT at the applicable legal rate. The decision was made through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 998/2026.
According to the resolution, the current pavilion shows signs of deterioration in its structural and functional elements, is subject to intensive use and does not meet the regulatory dimensions required for some sports. The Government considers it necessary to replace it with a multifunctional facility that will include space for a library and meeting room, and will allow a wider range of sports to be offered.
Located within the grounds of Machico Basic and Secondary School, the facility serves the school community and local residents, hosting curricular activities, school sports, adapted sports, leisure activities and federated sports.
The contract will be awarded through a public tender, with a notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The resolution approves the tender programme and specifications, and delegates authority to the Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure, with the possibility of subdelegation, to carry out acts relating to the procedure. The financial costs will be met under Ordinance No. 597/2026, published in JORAM on 21 October 2026.
The fourth amendment to the programme agreement between the Region and the Municipality of Machico sets the maximum contribution for the renovation and reconstruction of Porto da Cruz Cemetery at €5,141,706.98. The agreement remains in force until 31 December 2026.
The Region has approved the multi-year allocation of costs for the design and construction of the Machico Pavilion. The total amount is €4,175,000, plus VAT, with the largest share scheduled for 2029.
The Regional Government has authorised additional construction supervision and monitoring services for Madeira Central Hospital, at an extra cost of up to €29,620. The service period increases from 105 to 107 months, and the contract’s maximum term rises from 228 to 230 months.
