Regional Government invests 5.5 million euros in Madeira port projects

The Regional Government has authorized a program contract with APRAM to finance five strategic port modernization and safety projects until 2029.

The Regional Government Council has approved, through Resolution no. 592/2026, the signing of a program contract with APRAM - Administration of the Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, S.A.. This agreement aims at financial cooperation for the development of five structural projects, with a total investment amounting to €5,628,602.00 for the period between 2026 and 2029.

The projects covered by the funding are as follows:

  • Project 51553: Continuation of studies for the expansion of the outer pier (Pontinha) of the port of Funchal.
  • Project 53777: Consolidation of the cliff overlooking the Ribeira Brava pier.
  • Project 53778: Replacement of the ISPS fencing on the south pier of the port of Funchal.
  • Project 53947: Development and implementation of the Strategic Decarbonization Plan for Madeira's Ports.
  • Project 53948: Creation of a port operations and security center.

The measure, which also includes the studies and designs necessary for the execution of these interventions, aims to ensure the operationality and safety of regional port infrastructures. The Regional Secretary for the Economy has been mandated to sign the contract, with the multi-annual expenditure already having the necessary budgetary provision and approval by Ordinance for the Distribution of Charges.
