Madeira Regional Government authorizes over 6.6 million euros for association contracts with six private schools
The Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology and the Regional Secretariat for Finance have published ordinances authorizing the budgetary distribution of total costs related to association contracts with six private schools for the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years.
The Madeira Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology and the Regional Secretariat for Finance, has authorized the distribution of total budgetary costs related to initial association contracts and their respective amendments with six private schools. The ordinances, published in the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, allocate funds for operational costs and school social action for the 2025 (September to December) and 2026 (January to August) fiscal years.
The measures, which result from compliance with Article 25 of Decree-Law No. 155/92 of July 28, take immediate effect. The expenditure is covered by the budget of the Management and Planning Unit Office of the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology. The educational establishments covered are:
- Colégio Infante D. Henrique (holder: Portuguese Province of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) via Ordinance No. 323/2026 (amending the Cost Distribution Ordinance No. 480/2025). Total costs: €2,116,327.48 (Operations: €2,072,231.16; School Social Action: €44,096.32).
- Escola São João - Externato (holder: Province of the Heart of Mary of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Victories) via Ordinance No. 324/2026 (amending the Cost Distribution Ordinance No. 481/2025). Total costs: €516,129.71 (Operations: €499,584.21; School Social Action: €16,545.50).
- Escola Sant' Ana - Externato (holder: Province of the Heart of Mary of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Victories) via Ordinance No. 325/2026 (amending the Cost Distribution Ordinance No. 482/2025). Total costs: €495,570.20 (Operations: €475,460.50; School Social Action: €20,109.70).
- Escola Santo Condestável (holder: Province of the Heart of Mary of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Victories) via Ordinance No. 326/2026 (amending the Cost Distribution Ordinance No. 483/2025). Total costs: €532,350.38 (Operations: €513,511.58; School Social Action: €18,838.80).
- Escola Nossa Senhora da Conceição - Externato (holder: Province of the Heart of Mary of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Victories) via Ordinance No. 327/2026 (amending the Cost Distribution Ordinance No. 484/2025). Total costs: €459,578.95 (Operations: €459,398.95; School Social Action: €180.00).
- Externato S. Francisco de Sales - Prazeres (holder: Educational Centers of the Presentation of Mary (Madeira) - Association) via Ordinance No. 328/2026 (amending the Cost Distribution Ordinance No. 486/2025). Total costs: €634,024.42 (Operations: €620,269.22; School Social Action: €13,755.20).
This government action ensures the continuity of public funding for these private schools that have association contracts with the Autonomous Region of Madeira, guaranteeing the provision of educational services.
