Regional Government Council Resolution no. 144/2026 approved the draft amendment to the concession contract of SDM - Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Madeira, S.A.. This change formalizes the return to the natural park of parcels of the Industrial Free Trade Zone that overlap with the special protection area of Ponta de Sao Lourenco, which is part of the Natura network.
The measure aims to avoid constraints in future licensing and prevent potential litigation, while maintaining the extension of the concession until December 2032, in line with the extension of the Free Trade Zone regime approved by the Government of the Republic.
