The Regional Government has authorised financial compensation of up to €15,740.55 for 15 owners of professional fishing boats powered by petrol. The grants relate to fishing activity and will be formalised through programme contracts.
The Regional Government has authorised the payment of up to €10,740.55 in compensation to professional fishing boat owners whose petrol-powered vessels are registered in the fleet of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The measure is intended to offset higher petrol costs and covers applications approved for the period specified in the resolution.
The grant will be awarded through programme contracts, effective from the date of signature until 31 December 2026. The resolution states that compensation is calculated in accordance with regional regulations, taking into account the annual value of fish landed and the number of landings recorded at the fish auction.

The authorisation is set out in Regional Government Council Resolution No. 934/2026. The text identifies the grant period as 1 January to 31 December 2024, although the recitals state that the amounts were calculated for the period from 1 January to 31 December 2025.
Maximum retail fuel prices in the Autonomous Region of Madeira take effect at midnight on 3 October 2026. Unleaded 95 petrol will cost €2.021 per litre and road diesel €2.120.
