The Regional Government has approved the guidelines that will serve as the basis for the new rural fire management system in the Region.
Through Resolution no. 261/2026, the Regional Government Council approved the Strategic Guidelines for the Integrated Rural Fire Management System of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SGIFR-RAM).
This document, provided for in Regional Legislative Decree no. 4/2026/M, constitutes the fundamental pillar for the operationalization of the system, serving as a basis for the preparation of the Regional Action Program (PRA) and the Technical Regulation. The measure aims to strengthen the effectiveness of prevention mechanisms, fuel management, and institutional coordination in the Madeiran rural area.
Two ordinances authorize the distribution of budgetary charges for the acquisition of a river flow monitoring network and an integrated forest fire video surveillance system.
A 100% financial support for reforestation and recovery of forest areas affected by fires, pests, or natural disasters has been approved.
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries has established the funding application regime to protect forests against biotic and abiotic agents, such as fires and pests.
