Maria Micaela Baltazar Appointed Department Director at Social Security Institute
Maria Micaela Sousa Baltazar has been appointed, on an interim basis, as Director of the Department of Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities at the Madeira Social Security Institute.
The Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Work and Youth, Paula Cristina Baptista Margarido, has appointed a new director for a key department of the Madeira Social Security Institute (ISSM, IP-RAM).
Through Order No. 347/2026, graduate Maria Micaela Sousa Baltazar was appointed to the position of Director of the Department of Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities, on an interim basis. The position is equivalent, for all legal purposes, to a first-level intermediate management position.
The appointee is a Senior Technician on the staff roster of the Regional Directorate of Education, under the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology. The order takes effect on September 1, 2026.
Maria Micaela Baltazar holds a degree in Occupational Therapy from the Escola Superior de Saúde do Alcoitão and has an extensive background in the fields of inclusion and special education. Since 2014, she coordinated the group of Occupational Therapists at the Regional Directorate of Education and, between April and June 2024, she served as Director of the Coordination Unit for Occupational Activity Centers (CACI) at ISSM, IP-RAM.
Her appointment aims to fill the vacancy left by the previous holder, who moved to the Presidency of the Strategy Office for Persons with Disabilities (GEPD).
