The Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture approved a new model protocol for sharing geographic data and delegated powers for its implementation.
Dispatch No. 308/2026, published in the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, establishes a new instrument for institutional cooperation in the area of territorial data. The document aims to promote the interoperability, quality and reuse of geographic, cartographic and territorial information in the region.

Simultaneously, the dispatch delegated to the Regional Director for Spatial Planning the power to promote and grant the said protocols and adhesion agreements with public entities. The Regional Directorate for Spatial Planning is responsible for ensuring the technical execution of the obligations arising from PECSIG and coordinating its subscription.
This initiative is part of the modernisation process of the RAM Spatial Data Infrastructure, which includes systems such as iRIG-Madeira, the Regional Register of Geographic Data and the Regional Territorial Information Platform.
