Ponta do Sol Municipality receives two former schools
The Autonomous Region of Madeira has granted, on a precarious and free basis, two deactivated school buildings to the Municipality of Ponta do Sol.
The Regional Government has authorized the transfer of two deactivated school properties to the Municipality of Ponta do Sol, aiming for their revitalization for public interest purposes:
- Former Vale e Cova do Pico Primary School: Includes the multipurpose field, located at Estrada dos Salões - Serrado e Cova, no. 56, Canhas parish (Resolution no. 477/2026).
- Lombo de São João Primary School: Includes the sports complex, located at Caminho da Limeira, no. 3, parish and municipality of Ponta do Sol (Resolution no. 479/2026).
Both transfers are made on a precarious and free basis for a period of 5 years, renewable. The Municipality commits to using the spaces for cultural, sports, and well-being activities, as well as for Population Concentration and Support Zones (ZCAP).
