Regional Government Extends Two Collective Labor Agreements to the Entire Region
Two ordinances have been published extending the effects of collective labor agreements to the insurance and electrical and electronic sectors across the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The Regional Government of Madeira, through the Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Labor and Youth, has published two extension ordinances that make the terms of collective labor conventions initially signed between specific employer associations and trade unions applicable across the region.
This measure aims to standardize minimum working conditions and level the playing field between companies in the same sector of activity, applying the agreements to workers and employers not represented by the original signatory entities.
The published ordinances are:
- Extension Ordinance No. 31/2026 - Extends the collective agreement between Zurich Insurance Europe AG - Branch in Portugal and another and the National Union of Insurance Professionals and Related - SINAPSA (Salary adjustment and others), published in JORAM No. 13 on July 2, 2026.
- Extension Ordinance No. 32/2026 - Extends the collective contract between the Portuguese Association of Electrical and Electronic Sector Companies and the FE - Federation of Engineers and others (Salary adjustment and others), published in JORAM No. 13 on July 2, 2026.
Both ordinances enter into force on the day after their publication and take effect, regarding salary scales and pecuniary clauses, under the same terms provided for in the respective collective agreements. Clauses contrary to mandatory legal norms are not subject to extension.
