Regional Government praises three Madeiran athletes for sporting merits
The Regional Government of Madeira has awarded votes of praise to three Madeiran athletes for their excellent performance in national and European competitions.
The Regional Government Council, meeting in plenary session on June 3, 2026, approved the awarding of public praise to three Madeiran athletes who stood out in the national and international sporting scene:
- Joana Rosa Costa Semedo (Sport Lisboa e Benfica): Praised for winning the National Handball Championship title, in the 2025/2026 National 1st Division Championship, senior women's category (Resolution no. 568/2026).
- Maria Rosalina dos Santos Kgasi (Sporting Clube de Portugal): Praised for winning the silver medal at the European Club Champions Cup, in the absolute women's category, in athletics (Resolution no. 569/2026).
- Nuno Manuel Silva Pereira (Sporting Clube de Portugal): Praised for winning the European Club Champions Cup, in the absolute men's category, in athletics (Resolution no. 570/2026).
The executive highlights that the results achieved by the athletes have elevated the prestige of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
