The Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection and the Regional Secretariat for Finance have approved the budget allocation for the purchase of eight non-emergency patient transport vehicles for SESARAM.
The Regional Government of Madeira has formally authorized the acquisition of eight new non-emergency patient transport vehicles for the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SESARAM, EPERAM). The decision was published through Ordinance No. 391/2026, signed by the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Cristina Fonseca de Freitas, and the Regional Secretary for Finance, Elsa Maria dos Santos Fernandes.
The total base price for the operation is set at 642,000.00 euros, to which VAT at the legal rate of 23% will be added. The ordinance establishes a payment schedule, with the entire cost planned for the 2027 fiscal year. No expenditure for this acquisition is foreseen for the year 2026.
This measure aims to strengthen SESARAM's operational capacity in the area of non-emergency medical transport, an essential service for ensuring patient access to healthcare. The expense will be included in SESARAM's budget proposal for 2027, under funding source 392 and economic classification D.07.01.06.
The Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection authorized the redistribution of 2.25 million euros for the acquisition of total knee arthroplasty items for SESARAM.
The Regional Finance Secretary authorized the hiring of Dr. Maria Isabel Nunes Canha, a doctor retired due to age, to continue working in the public health service on a part-time basis.
A joint ordinance from the regional Health and Finance departments authorizes the expenditure and allocates the costs of a four-year contract for the acquisition of virological diagnostic reagents.
