The Regional Health Secretariat authorized an increase of nearly 93,000 euros in the budget for the requalification of integrated long-term care units, raising the total amount to over 4.4 million euros.
The Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection published Ordinance No. 419/2026, which authorizes a redistribution and change in budget charges for investment in the integrated long-term care network of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
This legal act refers to the investment C01-i05-RAM - Strengthening of the Regional Health Service, specifically the sub-investment C01-i05.01 - Expansion, Development and Improvement of the Integrated Long-Term Care Network, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). The objective is the requalification of existing places in inpatient units for the typology of Long-Term and Maintenance Integrated Long-Term Care.
The total authorized amount was updated to €4,429,373.68 (four million, four hundred and twenty-nine thousand, three hundred and seventy-three euros and sixty-eight cents). This value represents an increase of €92,965.95 compared to the previous amount of €4,336,407.73. The increase is intended for two projects contracted under this investment, one worth €32,917.50 and another €60,048.45.

The charges for 2026 have budgetary coverage in numbers 0000072, 0000073, 0000074, 0000076 and 0000077, in economic classifications 08.07.01.A0.A0 and 08.07.01.A0.FS, of the private budget of the Health Administration Institute, IP-RAM.
The ordinance enters into force on the day following its publication.
The Council of the Government approved the 2026 action plan for the Integrated Continuing Care Network (REDE), establishing coverage targets and the renewal and creation of 526 new inpatient and home support places.
The Regional Government authorized changes to cooperation agreements to increase psychiatric inpatient capacity at Casa de Saúde Câmara Pestana and Casa de Saúde São João de Deus, with retroactive effect from January 2026.
