Government strengthens social support for the elderly with new services in Funchal
The Madeira Social Security Institute has signed an agreement with the Funchal Community Development Association to fund day and night centers.
Through Resolution No. 596/2026, the Regional Government authorized the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Funchal Community Development Association to fund new social services for the elderly.
The agreement, with retroactive effect from June 1, 2026, aims to support the operation of a Night Center and a Specialized Day Center, under the following conditions:
- Night Center: 20 contracted places, with a standard value of 1,370.17 € per user.
- Specialized Day Center: 30 contracted places, with a standard value of 1,068.78 € per user.
The total investment for the year 2026 amounts to 416,267.60 €, with multi-year financial support planned until 2031.
