Regional Government boosts incentives for clinical activity recovery at SESARAM
The Regional Government of Madeira has approved a financial incentive package for doctors performing additional production in 21 critical specialties to reduce waiting lists.
Through Joint Order No. 55/2026, the Regional Secretariats for Health and Civil Protection and Finance established the conditions for granting a remuneration increase to doctors who perform clinical production beyond their normal working hours. The measure, which is in effect until December 21, 2026, with retroactive effects to January 1, aims to combat specialist shortages and meet Guaranteed Maximum Response Times (TMRG).
The total projected investment amounts to 1,486,379.82 €. The covered specialties are:
- Anesthesiology
- Cardiology
- General Surgery
- Plastic Surgery
- Gynecology and Obstetrics
- Immunoallergology
- Immunohemotherapy
- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Neurosurgery
- Neurology
- Ophthalmology
- Orthopedics
- Otorhinolaryngology
- Pulmonology
- Radiology/Radiodiagnostics
- Urology
Unit amounts vary according to the medical procedure, highlighting:
- Anesthesiology: 480.00 € per 6-hour shift.
- Cardiology: 600.00 € for pacemaker implantation, 300.00 € for catheterization, and 485.00 € for angioplasty.
- Consultations (various specialties): 30.00 € for first consultations and 20.00 € for subsequent ones.
- Gynecology and Obstetrics: 44.50 € for cervical pathology consultation with colposcopy and 90.00 € for ultrasounds.
- Radiology: Specific values for mammography reading (between 2.37 € and 4.26 €) and 44.10 € for thyroid biopsies.
