The Regional Government of Madeira has set a quota of up to five retired doctors who can be hired by SESARAM in 2026 to address specialist shortages.
Through Joint Order No. 56/2026, published in the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the Regional Government has defined the quota of retired doctors who may be hired by the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, EPERAM (SESARAM), during the year 2026.
This measure, which aims to address the shortage of doctors in various specialties in the Region, allows for the hiring of up to 5 (five) retired doctors, under Decree-Law No. 89/2010, of July 21. The order, signed by the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Cristina Fonseca de Freitas, and the Regional Secretary for Finance, Duarte Nuno Nunes de Freitas, takes immediate effect.
