The Government Council approved the project for the construction of the second phase of the municipal road between Sítio da Igreja and Sítio das Fontes, in Quinta Grande, with a maximum regional contribution of 8.5 million euros.
The Regional Government of Madeira approved, through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 851/2026, the project for the "Construction of the Municipal Road between Sítio da Igreja and Sítio das Fontes - Quinta Grande - 2nd Phase". The resolution authorizes a maximum co-financing from the Regional Administration of €8,549,043.66, which corresponds to 95% of the total value of the project presented by the Municipality of Câmara de Lobos, amounting to €8,998,993.33 (excluding VAT).
This project is classified as a joint initiative between the Region and the municipality, falling under the scope of program-contracts. The new road infrastructure has as its main objectives to reduce traffic on regional roads ER229 and ER216, improve circulation conditions and road safety, and reduce travel times for the resident population in the parish of Quinta Grande.
According to the resolution, the work also aims to create conditions for urban development and for the installation of new ventures, increasing the connectivity of the local road network and reinforcing the territorial cohesion of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The next formal step lies with the Municipality of Câmara de Lobos, which must submit the application form with the multi-annual phasing of costs and register the project in its planning documents, so that the corresponding program-contract can be signed. The costs for the Region will be borne by the budget of the Regional Secretariat for Finance.
The Council of Government has approved a resolution authorizing an expenditure of 6.72 million euros for a slope stabilization and protection project on Via Expresso 2, between the Ladeira da Vinha and João Delgado tunnels.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira will acquire a plot of land in Santo António, valued at 10,718.25 euros, necessary for the execution of an access and safety infrastructure project.
Order No. 430/2026 authorizes the budget distribution for the rehabilitation project of the Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol Mixed Fire Station, with a maximum value of 2,475,416.66 euros.
