Regional Government updates ISP tax rates on gasoline and diesel

Ordinance No. 400/2026 changes the unit rates of the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP) for gasoline and diesel in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, coming into force on August 17.

The Regional Government of Madeira has updated the rates of the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP) applicable in the region. The change, which comes into force on August 17, 2026, was published through Ordinance No. 400/2026 of August 3, signed by the Regional Secretary of Economy and the Regional Secretary of Education, Science and Technology, replacing the Regional Secretary of Finance.

The decree amends Ordinance No. 3/2015, which establishes the ISP rates in Madeira, specifically updating the values for three types of fuels, previously set by Ordinance No. 307/2026 of July 10. According to the preamble of the ordinance, the change is part of the "gradual unfreezing of mitigation measures" for fuel prices, seeking a balance between protecting families and businesses and inducing sustainable consumption patterns.

The new approved unit rates are as follows:

  • Unleaded gasoline IO95 (NC codes 27101141 to 27101149): 480.50 € per 1000 liters.
  • Road diesel (NC codes 27101941 to 27101949): 361.25 € per 1000 liters.
  • Colored and marked diesel (NC codes 27101941 to 27101949): 82.98 € per 1000 liters.

The ordinance takes effect from August 17, 2026.
