Regional Government updates agricultural production support rules
Amendments have been published to the ordinances regulating support for the sugarcane sector and basic support for Madeiran farmers.
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries has updated two fundamental diplomas for the regional agricultural sector, adapting the rules to the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) framework:
- Ordinance no. 200/2026: Makes the sixth amendment to Ordinance no. 363/2015, regarding Measure 2 - Support for Agricultural Production Chains (Action 2.1. Sugarcane Chain, Sub-action 2.1.1. Processing). The amendment sets the aid value at 370 euros per ton of sugarcane with a saccharimetric content of at least 15 degrees Brix.
- Ordinance no. 201/2026: Makes the second amendment to Ordinance no. 101/2019, regarding basic support for Madeiran farmers and support for organic farming on the island of Porto Santo. The diploma defines new aid brackets: 400 euros for areas between 500 m2 and 5,000 m2 (1st bracket) and 700 euros for areas equal to or greater than 5,000 m2 (2nd bracket).
Both diplomas enter into force on the day following their publication, with effects reported as of January 1, 2026.
