Regional Government supports three cultural and tourist events with over 233 thousand euros
The Regional Government Council authorized the signing of protocols and the granting of financial contributions for three distinct projects, representing a total investment of over 233 thousand euros.
The Regional Government of Madeira approved, through three distinct resolutions, financial support for three projects of a cultural and touristic nature, which will take place during the year 2026. The decisions were made in a plenary meeting of the Government Council on August 3rd.
The support is granted within the scope of signing development and cooperation protocols, framed by regional legislation that establishes the funding system for projects of cultural interest or for tourism promotion and animation.
The beneficiary projects and their respective amounts are as follows:
- Colombo Festival 2026, organized by the Avesso Cultural, Sports and Recreational Association, through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 796/2026. The event, which recreates 16th-century experiences in Porto Santo related to Christopher Columbus, receives a financial contribution not exceeding €207,000.00.
- XXIV International Regatta Canary Islands - Madeira, organized by the Clube Naval do Funchal, through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 797/2026. The nautical race, which contributes to the promotion of nautical tourism, receives support not exceeding €25,000.00.
- EcoMusicalis Sol Oriens / Sol Occidens Project, organized by Retoiça - Cultural, Sports and Recreational Association, through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 798/2026. The cycle of two sunrise concerts in a natural environment at Paúl da Serra receives a contribution not exceeding €1,500.00.
The protocols, whose drafts were approved, will be signed by the holders of the Tourism, Environment and Culture portfolios and the competent regional directorates. The support has the common objective of boosting the region's tourist-cultural offer, promoting its internal and external dissemination.
