Regional Government changes payment schedule for New Year's Eve lights and fireworks

Changes to the payment schedule for the decorative lights and fireworks show for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations have been approved.

The Regional Government has rescheduled the budgetary charges for two contracts related to the New Year's Eve celebrations in Funchal. The changes aim to adjust the distribution of payments across the 2026, 2027, and 2028 fiscal years.

The decisions were made through two ordinances published in the same supplement of the Official Journal:

  • Ordinance No. 372/2026: Amends Ordinance No. 154/2026 regarding the charges for the Public Tender for the Design of Decorative Lights for the Christmas and New Year's Eve Celebrations (Lot 6 - Praça do Povo and Praça Colombo), with a total amount of 106,500.00 € (plus VAT). The new payments are distributed as follows: €10,650.00 in 2026; €63,900.00 in 2027; €31,950.00 in 2028.
  • Ordinance No. 373/2026: Amends Ordinance No. 149/2026 regarding the charges for the design of the fireworks show for the New Year's Eve Celebrations (Lot 1 - Central Zone of Funchal), with a total amount of 401,247.00 € (plus VAT). The new payments are distributed as follows: €40,124.70 in 2026; €240,748.20 in 2027; €120,374.10 in 2028.

These changes ensure the continuity of funding for two central components of the festive program in the capital of Madeira, guaranteeing their execution for the next two festive cycles.
