The distribution of budgetary charges totaling 2.68 million euros for the provision of ship and port facility waste management services for APRAM has been authorized.
The Regional Government has authorized the distribution of a significant amount to finance waste management in the ports of Madeira. The funds are intended for a service provision contract with the public company that manages the regional ports.
Ordinance No. 322/2026, signed on July 15, 2026 by the regional secretaries of Economy and Finance, authorizes the distribution of budgetary charges related to the "Provision of Ship and Port Facility Waste Management Services for APRAM, S.A.".
The total estimated amount for a four-year period is €2,683,171.28 (two million, six hundred and eighty-three thousand, one hundred and seventy-one euros and twenty-eight cents), to which VAT at the applicable legal rate may be added, if due.

The ordinance also establishes that the expenditure for the current fiscal year is covered in the private budget of APRAM - Administration of the Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, S.A., and that in subsequent years, appropriate funds will be allocated in the budget of the same entity. The amount fixed for each year may be increased by the balance ascertained in the previous year.
This measure is part of the environmental management of the region's ports, ensuring the proper treatment of waste generated by maritime activity.
