Through Resolution no. 526/2026, the Regional Government Council has approved the Forest Fire Prevention and Surveillance Plan for the Autonomous Region of Madeira - 2026. The plan, prepared by the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation, IP-RAM (IFCN, IP-RAM), aims to strengthen operational readiness and the protection of ecosystems and populations.
The strategy is based on coordination between the IFCN, the Regional Civil Protection Service, IP-RAM, and the Municipal Councils, focusing on reducing ignitions and minimizing burnt areas through a territorially balanced approach.
