Government to lease space at Marina Fórum for competitiveness services

The government has authorised a non-residential lease to house the Regional Directorate for Competitiveness, Innovation and Sustainability at Marina Fórum in Funchal. The decision addresses a lack of space in the current offices, which are located in a room measuring less than 40 square metres.

The Regional Government has authorised the lease of an office unit on the second floor of the Marina Fórum building, at Rua Cónego Jerónimo Dias Leite and Praça do Infante, in the parish of Sé, Funchal. The premises will be used by the Regional Directorate for Competitiveness, Innovation and Sustainability, under Resolution of the Regional Government Council No. 999/2026.

The resolution states that the services currently operate from a single room measuring less than 40 m², a situation described as clearly overcrowded and liable to compromise the functioning of the Regional Directorate. The Government also says that the Region does not immediately have another property in the municipality of Funchal with the necessary conditions, and that the features and location of the selected unit are suitable for housing the service.

The unit is registered in the property tax register under article 1367-AE and recorded at the Funchal Land Registry under number 185/19910423-AE, Sé. It has use permit No. 10, issued by Funchal Municipal Council on 31 August 1992.

The resolution approves the draft contract and authorises the Regional Secretary for the Economy to sign it on behalf of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The document identifies the budget allocation for the 2026 expenditure in the proposed regional budget, but does not state the rent amount.
