Government awards support to ten sports clubs in Madeira

The Regional Directorate of Sport (DRD) has formalized support for ten clubs and sports associations in the Region through the signing of Sports Development Program Contracts (CPDD). The agreements, approved by the Regional Secretary of Education, Science and Technology, aim to financially support participation in regional and national competitions, support for high-performance athletes, event organization, and infrastructure maintenance.

The support is granted under the Regional Sports Support Plan (PRAD) for the 2025/2026 sports season and totals hundreds of thousands of euros, distributed among the following entities:

• Sports Club of the Basic and Secondary School of Santa Cruz via Contract no. 184/2026 (CPDD no. 41/2026) – Support of €21,061.20 for acrobatic gymnastics, gymnastics for all, karate, table tennis, and volleyball.
• Sports and Recreational Club of Prazeres via Contract no. 185/2026 (CPDD no. 42/2026) – Support of €51,656.46 for badminton, billiards, cycling, motocross, speed skating, and ice skating.
• Cultural and Sports Center of the Workers of Empresa Eletricidade da Madeira via Contract no. 186/2026 (CPDD no. 43/2026) – Support of €484.51 for billiards and archery.
• Culture and Sports Center of the Workers of Horários do Funchal via Contract no. 187/2026 (CPDD no. 44/2026) – Support of €2,599.77 for athletics and basketball.
• Levada School Club (CEL) via Contract no. 188/2026 (CPDD no. 45/2026) – Support of €44,788.73 for handball and volleyball.
• CEE - Estreito School Club - Madeira via Contract no. 189/2026 (CPDD no. 46/2026) – Support of €24,332.53 for handball, athletics, cycling, orienteering, and skyrunning.
• Sea Scouts Maritime Training Center via Contract no. 190/2026 (CPDD no. 47/2026) – Support of €37,980.55 for underwater activities, canoeing, and sailing.
• Andorinha de Santo António Football Club via Contract no. 191/2026 (CPDD no. 48/2026) – Support of €56,876.41 for athletics, basketball, cycling, football, swimming, modern pentathlon, skyrunning, and triathlon.
• Caniçal Football Club via Contract no. 192/2026 (CPDD no. 49/2026) – Support of €27,461.80 for football, futsal, and volleyball.
• Funchal Athletics Club via Contract no. 193/2026 (CPDD no. 50/2026) – Support of €4,263.05 for athletics and modern pentathlon.

These contracts are valid until December 31, 2026, and are subject to control and supervision by the DRD, which will verify compliance with sports objectives and the proper use of public funds.
