The Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture has authorized a 100,000 euro program-contract with the Madeira Triathlon Association to support the organization of the World Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Championships.
The Regional Government of Madeira has approved financial support of 100,000 euros for the hosting of the World Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run Championships in the region. The amount will be distributed over two years, through a program-contract signed with the Madeira Triathlon Association.
The support was formalized through Ordinance No. 433/2026, signed by the regional secretaries for Tourism, Environment and Culture and for Finance. The funds are intended to cover the costs of the international sports project.
The distribution of funding across the fiscal years is as follows:
For the year 2026, the expenditure has a specific budgetary allocation in the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture. The charge for 2027 will be included in the future regional budget proposal for that year. The ordinance also establishes that the annual amount can be reinforced with any surpluses identified in the previous year.
This investment strengthens Madeira's positioning as a destination for high-level sporting events and supports a regional federation in organizing a world competition.
