The Portuguese Canoeing Federation will receive financial support for organizing the Madeira Ocean Challenge 2026 event, which included the ICF Ocean Racing World Cup Series.
The Regional Government authorized a program-contract with the Portuguese Canoeing Federation to support the organization of the Madeira Ocean Challenge 2026 event. The support, with a maximum value of 27,860 euros, was approved by Resolution of the Regional Government Council No. 785/2026.
The event, which took place in the Autonomous Region of Madeira between May 1 and 3, 2026, consists of three competitions:
The Madeira Ocean Challenge involved the participation of approximately 300 athletes, coaches, officials, and technical staff from international, national, and regional backgrounds. The financial support aims to cover costs related to administrative and sporting operations, travel, accommodation, security, and emergency services.
The program-contract takes effect from the date of its signing and ends on December 31, 2026.
