The Regional Directorate of Sport signed 20 program contracts to support the travel of sports agents in regional and national competitions, with a total investment exceeding 640 thousand euros.
The Regional Directorate of Sport (DRD) signed a set of 20 sports development program contracts (CPDD) with regional associations of various sports. The objective is to financially co-participate in the costs of travel for sports agents (athletes, coaches, officials, referees) to participate in regional and national competitions, mitigating the difficulties arising from insularity and territorial discontinuity.
The contracts, approved by the Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Technology, Elsa Maria dos Santos Fernandes, between May and May 2026, were published in the Official Journal and are valid until December 31, 2026. The support is part of the Regional Sports Support Plan for the 2025/2026 sports season.

The financial support aims not only to guarantee the participation of Madeiran athletes and teams but also to promote the Autonomous Region of Madeira through sport. The contracts establish obligations for both parties, including accountability and the rigorous application of public resources.
