SANASMADEIRA receives up to €68,000 to maintain coastal rescue stations

The Regional Government has authorised a programme contract with SANASMADEIRA - the Madeira Association for Rescue at Sea - to ensure the operation of the Coastal Rescue Stations Network (RESCO) throughout 2026.
The financial contribution may reach a maximum of €68,000 and will be paid in eight monthly instalments of €8,500. The contract takes effect on the date it is signed and ends on 31 December 2026.
According to Regional Government Council Resolution No. 919/2026, the funding is intended to ensure the network remains operational and fulfils its objectives within the Civil Protection System of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The document places SANASMADEIRA's work in the context of rescuing shipwreck victims and conducting underwater searches, highlighting the importance of keeping rescue and emergency services operational along the coast.
The resolution also approves the draft programme contract and authorises the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection to sign it on behalf of the Region.
