Regional Government supports four institutions in Venezuela with 95 thousand euros

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has allocated a total of 95 thousand euros in humanitarian aid to four institutions supporting Madeirans and Portuguese descendants in Venezuela.

The Regional Government Council authorized, through four resolutions, the signing of program-contracts with institutions in Venezuela to provide humanitarian support. This action follows the socioeconomic difficulties and earthquakes that have affected the country, with a special focus on the resident Madeiran and Portuguese-descendant community.

The funds, approved under the Region's Budget for 2026, are intended exclusively for emergency actions, such as the acquisition of food, medicine, hygiene products, clothing, and other essential goods, as well as temporary shelter and social assistance.

The financial support was distributed as follows:

  • Civil Association Centro Luso Venezolano (RIF J-001981489, headquartered at Calle Alfarería entre 2 y 1 transversal, casa S/N, Urb. Week End, Catia La Mar, La Guaira) via Regional Government Council Resolution No. 830/2026 - Maximum amount: 40,000.00 €.
  • Portuguese Ladies' Benevolent Society via Regional Government Council Resolution No. 831/2026 - Maximum amount: 25,000.00 €.
  • Luso-Venezuelan Geriatric Home of Maracay - Venezuela via Regional Government Council Resolution No. 832/2026 - Maximum amount: 15,000.00 €.
  • Father Joaquim Ferreira Home - Venezuela via Regional Government Council Resolution No. 833/2026 - Maximum amount: 15,000.00 €.

The program-contracts are valid until June 30, 2027, and the Director of Regional Communities and External Cooperation, José Sancho Gonçalves Gomes, has been mandated for their execution.
