The Parish Church Factory of Prazeres will receive a financial contribution of 20,000 euros to ensure the normal operation of the Prazeres Educational Farm in 2026.
The Regional Government has authorized the signing of a program contract with the Parish Church Factory of Prazeres to support the operation of the Prazeres Educational Farm. The support, amounting to a maximum of 20,000 euros, was approved by Regional Government Council Resolution No. 780/2026.
The Prazeres Educational Farm is a project focused on education, sociocultural evolution, and rural development, operating since 2000. It features orchards, aromatic herb gardens, a unit for processing agricultural products, a small botanical garden, a herbarium, a museum nucleus with the collection of naturalist Father Manuel de Nóbrega, and an art gallery (Galeria dos Prazeres).
The non-profit project contributes to the socioeconomic dynamization of the rural area of the parish of Prazeres, in the municipality of Calheta, preserving and stimulating local agriculture and promoting the transformation and marketing of artisanal products. The financial support aims to address the farm's financial needs, as its sustainability depends on the sale of its productions.
The program contract takes effect from the date of its signing and ends on December 31, 2026.
