Madeira creates PROAGES II with two million euros to support middle-class families
The Regional Government has launched a new income support program, endowed with 2,016,000 euros, aimed at households in an intermediate socioeconomic situation.
The Regional Government Council approved the creation of the Program for Supporting Social Stability Guarantee II (PROAGES II), through Regional Government Council Resolution No. 707/2026. The program has a global allocation of 2,016,000 euros and aims to provide supplementary income support to families in an intermediate socioeconomic situation in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
The managing entity of the program will be the Regional Directorate for Citizenship and Social Affairs, under the supervision of the Regional Secretariat for Inclusion, Work and Youth. Financial support will be executed in partnership with Social Economy Entities in the region, provided their statutes foresee social support as their scope of action.
PROAGES II emerges as a continuation and redefinition of the 2025 homonymous program (PROAGES-2025), which supported about 2,800 households. The new program aims to broaden the reach of public policy measures, focusing specifically on households that, due to their income level, are not covered by existing structural social supports, but which face difficulties due to inflation and the rising cost of living.
The Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Work and Youth was delegated the authority to approve the specific regulations of the program. The resolution enters into force the day after its publication and takes effect retroactively from January 1, 2026.
